WPL 2024: Complete list of award winners and the prize money

The second edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) concluded on Sunday (March 17), with Smriti Mandhana’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeating Meg Lanning’s Delhi Capitals (DC) in the summit clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.

It was RCB’s maiden title triumph across franchise cricket in 17 years.

Sophie Molineux changes the game for RCB

Left-arm spinner Sophie Molineux was the shows stopper as she picked up 3 wickets in an over, turning the tide in RCB’s favour. Delhi Capitals, who were going all guns blazing until Molineux’s second over, were bundled out for a paltry 113. In reply, the Royal Challengers chased down the set target with 8 wickets in hand and three balls to spare.

For her outstanding bowling performance, Molineux was adjudged ‘Player of the Match’. Meanwhile, Shreyanka Patil was honoured with the ‘Emerging Player of the Season’ award and the Purple Cap. Notably, the young Indian off-spinner bagged the highest number of wickets (13) this season, with best figures of 4/12.

Australian superstar Ellyse Perry, who remained unbeaten on 35 in the final, won the Orange Cap as she ended up accumulating 347 runs in the tournament. The RCB icon also smashed the second most fours (41) throughout the competition.
