Virat Kohli video calls Anushka Sharma, Vamika and Akaay after victory vs PBKS in IPL 2024

In a cute moment that instantly went viral on social media, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star batter Virat Kohli video called his wife Anushka Sharma and kids – Vamika and Akaay – after the conclusion of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) on March 25.

The match between the Faf du Plessis-led side and the Shikhar Dhawan & Co. was held at the Chinnaswamy Stadium and the home team emerged as victorious by 4 wickets.

Bowling first in the match, RCB restricted PBKS to 176/6 in their 20 overs as Mohammed Siraj and Glenn Maxwell picked up two wickets each while Yash Dayal and Alzarri Joseph bagged one wicket each.

Chasing the target, Virat Kohli brought out his chase-master avatar and slammed a sensational 77 runs off 49 balls. It looked like his knock would go in vain but Dinesh Karthik didn’t let that happen as he along with Mahipal Lomror finished the match for RCB. Karthik shined under pressure and took the PBKS bowlers to the cleaners in the last few overs to make sure his team crossed the finish line.

After the match, Virat Kohli’s act caught the attention of the fans. The star batter was seen interacting with someone on a video call and the way he was chatting made it very clear that he was on the call with his family members Anushka Sharma, Vamika, and Akaay. Kohli was seen doing some funny gestures during the interaction and he gave a flying kiss to his family before ending the call.

Notably, in February 2024, Kohli was blessed with his second child whom they named Akaay. Virat Kohli took a 2-month break from cricket during that period and missed the entire Test series against the England National Cricket Team before making his comeback to competitive cricket in the Indian Premier League 2024.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli also won the Player of the Match award for his heroics against the Punjab Kings, and speaking after the match, he said that he always looks forward to building memories during the matches and was grateful for receiving the love and appreciation from his fans. He elaborated:

“It’s been going on for years (love story with fans at Chinnaswamy). People talk about a lot of other things when you play sport – achievement, stats, numbers. But when you look back it’s the memories you create. The love, appreciation and backing I’ve received has been amazing.”

While talking about spending time with his family, Virat Kohli labeled it as a surreal experience. He said that spending time as just another person on the road was special for him. He elaborated:

“Just to feel normal for two months – for me, my family – it was a surreal experience. Couldn’t have been more grateful to God for the opportunity to spend time with the family. It’s an amazing experience to just be another person on the road and not be recognised. That’s the promise I can give here – I’ll keep turning up and keep trying me best.”
