Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni share a beautiful ‘Mahirat’ moment in IPL 2024 opener

Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni stole the limelight even before the first ball of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 was bowled. The first match of the 17th edition of the league is taking place at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

It’s Virat Kohli vs MS Dhoni in the IPL 2024 today but the duo made sure that they give their fans everything to cheer about in the game. As Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) openers in Kohli and Faf du Plessis walked about to bat, the crowd erupted and the cheers got even more berserk when MS Dhoni came too.

But the moment of the day came when Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni were seen sharing a light moment. Before the game progressed, the duo were seen hugging each other before sharing some words with each other. The video of the incident did rounds on internet within the seconds

Here’s the video:

Earlier in the day, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won the toss and opted to bat first. Skipper Faf du Plessis talked about the decision to bat first, saying that batting first favours in Chennai pitch. He talked about playing in front of the Chennai crowd. He stated at the toss:

“We’ll bat first. Looks like a good wicket, conditions here are a bat-first wicket. First time back here, great to see the Chennai fans again but I’m here with RCB and hopefully we can turn over a very good CSK team. Prep has been good, we need to turn up now.”

Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis gave a great start to the team, particularly Skipper, who oozed his aggressive best and played magnificently at the start. The duo added 41 runs together as CSK bowlers came under a lot of pressure at their home stadium.

Virat Kohli left stranded at one end as RCB lost three quick wickets before batter perishes

RCB was jolted with the first blow in the 5th over as skipper Faf du Plessis was removed by Mustifizur Rahman. The fast bowler bowled a slower delivery was than outside. The batter reached for it on the drive. The ball caught the toe end and went towards a deep backward point where Rachin Ravindra took a low catch. The captain scored 35 runs off 23 balls.

In the very same over, RCB came under more pressure as Rajat Patidar bagged a duck as well. The batter didn’t look comfortable at the crease as Mustifizur Rahman found the outside edge of the bat. He bagged a three-ball duck as his woes with the bat continued.

Things turned from bad to worse when Glenn Maxwell got out as well. Deepak Chahar removed the all-rounder. The batter poked in at a tight stump-lined ball and the ball caught the outside edge of the bat before being pouched safely by MS Dhoni behind the stumps.

Virat Kohli (21) looked good at the crease but too couldn’t make a big impact with the bat. He fell to Mustifizur Rahman, who picked his four wickets to put Royal Challengers Bengaluru under immense pressure.
