During the gripping Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 showdown between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Saturday (April 6), a heartwarming incident unfolded, capturing the essence of cricket fandom. As Rajasthan sealed a victory over RCB in a thrilling last-over finish, all eyes were on a touching encounter between a young fan and cricket legend Virat Kohli.

Fan’s enthusiastic gesture and Virat Kohli’s compassionate response

In a video that swiftly went viral on social media, a spirited young boy breached security barriers to get onto the field, driven by his unwavering desire to meet his idol, Kohli. Amidst the chaos, security personnel quickly moved in to escort the boy away from the playing area. However, what truly warmed hearts was Kohli’s compassionate response. The former RCB captain urged the security officials to handle the enthusiastic fan with care, calmly saying, “aaraam sai,” (take it easy).

Kohli’s stellar performance in the ongoing IPL 2024

Meanwhile, Kohli has been having a stellar season, emerging as the highest run-scorer and currently holding the coveted orange cap. The 35-year-old has amassed a whopping 316 runs in five games, smashing one century and two fifties at an impressive average of 105.33 and a striking rate of 146.29.

The second-highest scorer, Sai Sudharshan of Gujarat Titans (GT), trails him by 125  runs. Even in the clash against Rajasthan, Kohli showcased his batting prowess by scoring a magnificent century, notching up 113 runs off 72 balls, inclusive of twelve boundaries and four towering sixes. Nevertheless, despite his stellar performance, Rajasthan emerged victorious, riding on the back of Jos Buttler‘s sensational century to clinch the contest by six wickets.

RCB’s form and preparation for Mumbai Indians clash

RCB’s form has also been commendable this season, despite facing setbacks in four out of their initial five matches. They are now gearing up to face the five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium on April 11, aiming to turn the tide in their favour.
