IND vs AFG: Watch – Rohit Sharma Hilariously Forgets Teammate’s Name At Toss; Murali Kartik Assists Skipper

To boost their preparations for the T20 World Cup 2024, India are taking on Afghanistan in the first T20I of the three-match series. Team India are witnessing the return of captain Rohit Sharma to the T20I setup after 14 months and he is leading the side. India won the toss and elected to bowl first against the Afghani team at the PCA Stadium in Mohali.

Rohit Sharma is known for his attacking batting and also the wide range of shots he plays throughout the match. However, there have also been many moments during any match, when Rohit’s actions have made his fans laugh. The same happened during the toss of the IND vs AFG first T20I match as he forgot his teammate’s name.

India didn’t play the likes of Avesh Khan, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, and Kuldeep Yadav during the first T20I match against Afghanistan. However, Rohit forgot the name of Kuldeep, who missed out on the first T20I match.

While explaining the team combination, Rohit Sharma said to Murali Kartik at the toss, “Yeah look obviously I will tell you the guys who are missing out, the guys who are missing out are Sanju, Avesh, Yashasvi and then….. one more, Avesh, Sanju. I told you (Murli Kartik) before the toss.”

However, Murli Kartik recalled Rohit Sharma that Kuldeep Yadav is not playing but Rohit said Kuldeep is playing. However, later Sharma accepted that Kuldeep Yadav was not playing and gave a smile to Kartik.

As Rohit Sharma has once again taken over as the captain of the Indian T20I side, Sharma will want India to win his maiden ICC trophy when they play the T20 World Cup 2024. The IND vs AFG T20I series will be the last bilateral series ahead of the major ICC tournament.

Rohit Sharma returned to the Indian T20I side along with Virat Kohli after India’s loss in the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final against England. India lost the match by ten wickets which was their 8th loss in an ICC knockout match in the last 9 years.

Rohit Sharma has been in decent form from the 2023 Asia Cup and will want to continue the same in the upcoming matches for India. On the other hand, Virat Kohli’s return to India is also a major benefit for the team as he was in sublime form during the last edition of the T20 World Cup.

Virat Kohli has made a wonderful return to international cricket after a lean patch of four years and was recently the Player of the Tournament in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Virat slammed 765 runs from 11 matches and became the highest run scorer of the tournament. India had a ruthless campaign throughout the competition and had won 10 out of 10 games ahead of the final against Australia.

However, it was just one bad day of cricket which resulted in India’s loss in the ODI World Cup 2023 final and also another defeat in the ICC knockouts.

Now, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will want to add a T20 World Cup to their cabinet when they play the T20 World Cup 2024.
