NEW DELHI: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) spin bowling all-rounder Shreyanka Patil showcased her prowess with a destructive four-wicket haul in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) final against Delhi Capitals.
Reflecting on her performance, Patil expressed that even a slight turn on the pitch unleashes her full potential, likening herself to a “different beast” with the ball in hand.

Patil, who claimed the Purple Cap for most wickets by a player in the tournament after her exploits, has 13 wickets in eight games at an average of 12.07, with the best bowling figures of 4/12.
“I really enjoyed bowling in the middle. They got a really good start but we did not let our guard down. We said it was a matter of a wicket. When we got the first, it was about the next and we kept fighting. Enjoyed each and every moment of the first innings. There was something in the wicket. If there is a little turn, I feel I am a different beast,” said Patil in the mid-innings chat.
Regarding her left hand being strapped, Patil remarked, “Playing against MI in Bangalore, I got a hairline fracture. The team management and the physio team really worked hard to get me back on the field and huge credit to them.”
Delhi Capitals lost the plot against RCB spinners after a flying start, crumbling like a pack of cards to be bowled out for 113.
DC appeared to be cruising at 64 for no loss in just 43 balls before experiencing a dramatic collapse, losing all 10 wickets for a mere 49 runs. This sudden downturn unfolded in front of a 28,781 capacity crowd, whose loyalties seemed divided.
The catalyst for DC’s downfall was Australia’s left-arm spinner Sophie Molineux, who wreaked havoc by claiming three wickets in the eighth over, setting the stage for RCB’s remarkable turnaround.
