The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pacer Mohammed Siraj bowed down to the Mumbai Indians (MI) fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah after the 25th match of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) on Thursday, April 11, at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to bowl first in the match. There were a total of 4 changes across teams for the high-voltage match. The home team brought in Shreyas Gopal for Piyush Chawla while RCB brought in Will Jacks, Mahipal Lomror, and Vijaykumar Vyshak.
Batting first, Royal Challengers Bengaluru posted 196/8 on the board and they let the Mumbai Indians complete the run-chase in 15.3 overs to win the match by 7 wickets with 27 balls remaining.
This was the second win of the Mumbai Indians in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League while Royal Challengers Bengaluru faced their 5th loss of the season and things are looking quite bad for them at the moment.
Jasprit Bumrah was the star of the show for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the match as he bagged a 5-wicket haul for 21 runs and had the highest impact in the match. He played a key role in the victory of the Mumbai Indians and also clinched the Player of the Match.
Unlike the premier pacer of Mumbai Indians, the star RCB seamer Mohammed Siraj had a horrible day on the field as in his 3 overs, he gave away 37 runs and his economy rate was 12.33.
His poor bowling performance to go with the defeat of his team made him dejected and he looked quite emotional during the customary handshakes after the match was over.
‘Emotional’ Mohammed Siraj despite being disappointed made sure that he acknowledged the efforts of his India teammate Jasprit Bumrah and bowed down to him before sharing a beautiful hug with him after the match.

I’m very happy with the outcome – Jasprit Bumrah
Jasprit Bumrah while speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony said that he was delighted with his performance in the match. He said:
“I’m very happy with the outcome. But I will not say I had always thought of taking a five-for. The wicket was sticking in the first 10 overs. One of those days where things went in my favor and catches went to hand.
Jasprit Bumrah added that bowling is not an easy job and especially in T20 cricket it becomes quite difficult so bowlers need to adapt and try new things to come out on top. Jasprit Bumrah said:
“In this format, it’s anyway very harsh on the bowlers so you need to have different skills. Can’t be a one-trick pony. Everyone is doing research and data. Have trained to have different skills. Bowling is tough because you will have to take a beating, you will have to have bad days to learn from it. Whenever I’ve had bad days, I’ve watched videos the next day to see what didn’t work, why it didn’t work. You bowl to batters in the nets who hit big sixes, find out how you react to pressure. And when you’re in the middle facing same pressure, you’ll have answers.”
Jasprit Bumrah also revealed that he does a lot of research to know about the strengths of the batters and plans accordingly. He stated:
“I do my research and see where the batter is strong. You don’t need to use all tricks on one day. There’s no ego in this format. Even if you can bowl 145kph, if the wicket demands slower balls then you’ll have to bowl slower balls.”
