Batsman in utter disbelief as David Warner saves certain six with stunning effort

Veteran batsman David Warner saved a certain six with a stunning effort near the boundary in the ongoing game between Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.

It was the penultimate delivery of the very final over of LSG’s innings. DC fast-bowler Ishant Sharma tried to bowl a yorker but ended up bowling a juicy full-toss to Arshad Khan. The LSG batter made a sweet connection with the ball, hitting it towards long-on.

It looked like the ball would easily sail over David Warner’s head. However, the Australia star had other plans. Not the tallest player on the field, David Warner made a timely jump and caught the ball with both hands before throwing it inside the field of play as he fell over the boundary ropes. Although he could not complete the catch, he saved a certain six for his side.

Arshad Khan’s reaction to the save said it all. The batsman could do nothing but smile in disbelief after his shot was stopped by David Warner in a stunning fashion. He only got a single for the shot.

Talking about the game, LSG finished their innings on 167/7 in the allotted 20 overs. Batting first, the hosts were reeling at 94/7 at one stage before Ayush Badoni and Arshad Khan guided them to a 160-plus total. Badoni starred with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 55 off 35 balls with the help of five fours and a six. On the other hand, Arshad scored 20 as he played the role of second fiddle during the 73-run stand.

“Enjoyed it. Wasn’t able to score in the last 3 innings. Feel blessed. Very thankful to the franchise for showing their support. This match I wanted to take it deep and build partnerships, tried to score off the bad balls. Arshad (Khan) played a great supportive role, that helped us cross 160. Hopefully we’ll defend the total and win this game,” said Badoni after the innings.
