West Indies and Quetta Gladiators player Akeal Hosein scripted the history in the ongoing game against Peshawar Zalmi. The 25th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 is taking place at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.
Akeal Hosein became just the sixth bowler in the history of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to pick a hat-trick in the tournament. The spinner achieved the feat during the 16th over of the first innings of the game between Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi.
Akeal Hosein first removed Aamer Jamal on the second ball of the 16th over. He bowled a short delivery that was outside off to which the batter tried to cut. He didn’t get the proper connection as the ball took the edge of the bat and was caught by keeper Laurie Evans on the second attempt.
On the third ball of the over, Akeal Hosein removed Mehran Mumtaz. The spinner again bowled a short delivery that was outside off. The batter tried to cut and played on as the ball got dragged onto the stumps off a thick under-edge.
Akeal Hosein on the hat-trick bowl bowled a sensational delivery to grab the third wicket on the third consecutive ball. He bowled a length ball that slid across off. The spinner delivered an arm ball from round the wicket and it caught the outside edge of Luke Wood, who got forward to defend.
The ball went in a flash to the slips but Rille Rossouw took a sharp catch to give Akeal Hosein his third wicket on the third consecutive ball. He etched him in the record books as he became just the 6th bowler in the tournament to achieve the feat.
