Akash Deep wins hearts with his heartwarming gesture for fans in Dharamsala Test

India pacer Akash Deep won the hearts of the fans with his incredible gesture during Day 1 of the ongoing fifth Test against England. The game between the two teams is taking place at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. 

Akash Deep was dropped from the Indian XI for the ongoing fifth game. The fast bowler made way for Jasprit Bumrah, who made a return after being rested for the fourth Test. Even though he wasn’t playing, Akash made sure that he grabbed the limelight for his gesture. 

During Day 1 of the game, Akash Deep, who was walking on the sidelines of the boundary ropes with drinks in his hand, was asked by fans for water. The fast bowler, however, didn’t think once and threw the bottle towards the fans.

Coming to the ongoing Test match between India and England in Dharamsala, the Day 1 of the game was bossed by the hosts. The Ben Stokes-led won the toss and was put into the bat first. They were tested a lot by Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, who swung the ball pretty well. 

But openers Zak Crawley (79) and Ben Duckett (27) negotiated the tricky phase well and added 64 runs for the opening stand. It seemed that England would get the score on the board. But with the way Indian spinners pulled things back incredibly well. 

Kuldeep Yadav picked a fifer and broke the backbone of the England batting lineup before Ravichandran Ashwin wrapped up the tail with his four-wicket haul. India bundled out the opposition for just 218 runs and then had a staggering outing with the bat as well. 

Yashavi Jaiswal (57) and Rohit Sharma (52*) slammed magnificent half-centuries and added 104 runs opening partnership. Shubman Gill (26*) looked solid at the crease as India ended Day 1 on high. The hosts were 135-1 and were 83 runs behind England’s total. 

Akash Deep shines for the team with the ball on his debut 

Akash Deep, who made his debut for India in the Ranchi, was impressive with the ball for the team. He made the ball talk in his debut game and picked three wickets, rattling England’s top order with his fiery new ball bowling for the team in the morning session. 

Akash Deep returned with the figures of 3/70 and helped his team win the game. He dedicated the performance to his late father, saying that when his father was alive he couldn’t make him proud and thus the performance was for him he claimed that it was his father’s dream to see the fast bowler do something good in life. Speaking to reporters after the game, he explained: 

“I dedicate my debut to my father. I wasn’t able to do anything in life when he was alive and he dreamed that I do something good in life… so I dedicate this performance and debut to him.”

Akash Deep will now be seen in action during the IPL 2024. He will be playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
