Will Jacks is finally making his much-awaited debut in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has been included in the playing eleven for the game between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday (April 11).
Will Jacks got the opportunity after RCB’s struggle in the first five games. The Bengaluru-based outfit has managed to win only one of its first five games in IPL 2024. While their batting lineup boasts the likes of Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and Cameron Green, it has lacked firepower so far.
RCB are yet to touch the 190-run mark in the season as their main batters except Virat Kohli have struggled to do well. There were calls from several quarters to include Will Jacks in the team and RCB team management finally gave the Englishman the chance to showcase his skills in the IPL. On Thursday, Will Jacks received his debut cap from none other than batting superstar and former RCB captain Virat Kohli just before the start of the game against Mumbai Indians.

Speaking at the toss, captain Faf du Plessis confirmed that Will Jacks is making his IPL debut and will bat at number three. He has replaced Cameron Green in the playing XI.
Talking about Will Jacks’ T20 career, he has scored more than 4ooo runs at a stunning strike rate of 158.66. He has a powerplay strike rate of 164.21 which is the best among batters who’ve faced a minimum of 1000 balls (a fairly big sample size to consider), according to ESPNcricinfo.
Last month, he also scored a stunning 53-ball 108 for Comilla Victorians in the Bangladesh Premier League. Apart from his explosive batting, Will Jacks is also a handy spinner. He has picked up 49 wickets in T20s so far.
