NEW DELHI: Two-time defending champion Lahore Qalandars‘ disastrous season in the Pakistan Super League ended with only one win against Islamabad United in 10 league games.
On Sunday, Quetta Gladiators finally sealed a playoff spot cricket after four years as Mohammad Wasim pulled skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi for a last-ball six and handed Lahore Qalandars a six-wicket defeat at the National Stadium in Karachi.
But earlier, Afridi hit 55 after promoting himself to No. 5 and Abdullah Shafique was 59 not out as Lahore made 166/4 after choosing to bat first.
Facing flak over his team’s performance in the league, Afridi slammed a 39-ball 59.
Afridi reached his fifty off just 28 balls with a six off Abrar Ahmed over long-off and celebrated it with a ‘finger on your lips’ gesture.
