Star Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer celebrated his half-century against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the 10th of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 in style by blowing a flying kiss to his fiancée at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday, March 29.
Venkatesh Iyer failed to deliver with the bat in the opening match of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) as he got dismissed after scoring just 7 runs. However, he bounced back strong in the second match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and slammed a match-winning half-century.
He smashed 50 runs in the match off 30 balls, before getting dismissed by the left-arm pacer Yash Dayal in the 16th over of the match. His innings consisted of 3 fours and 4 sixes.
Notably, Iyer had completed his half-century in the just previous over and he wasn’t able to convert it into a big score. On the 5th ball of the 15th over, Venkatesh Iyer smashed a Mohammed Siraj delivery to the long-on for a single to complete his fifty.
His celebration caught the attention of many as he removed his helmet and blew a kiss towards the KKR dugout. Later, in the post-match presentation ceremony, Venkatesh Iyer revealed that his fiancee was present in the stadium and that was a clear hint that his celebration was dedicated to his partner. “Also my fiancee is here and I would like to credit her,” he said.

It’s just a little jacked up, have to go and have a scan – Venkatesh Iyer
Speaking after the match, Venkatesh Iyer said that he will undergo scans soon to deteriorate the problem he was facing in his back while batting against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Venkatesh Iyer said:
“[on his back] It’s just a little jacked up, have to go and have a scan. To be honest, it got better as the game went on, one end in particular, the Pavilion end and credit to Narine, the pressure was off and we had to go and finish the formalities. It was very important to capitalise on the platform laid, the left-arm spinner was bowling and it was my duty to go after the bowling.”
He also lauded RCB pacer Vijaykumar Vyshak, who bowled sensationally and gave away just 23 runs in his 4-over quota while picking up one wicket. He said:
“Vyshak bowled really well, used the change-ups nicely. To face him was a little tough, pace off on that pitch in totality was tough. even when we bowled quick deliveries, it was tough.”
Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders won the match by 7 wickets and they ended the winning streak of home teams in the Indian Premier League 2024 by beating Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their own backyard.
