In a one-sided contest at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, the 4th match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 unfolded between UP Warriorz and Delhi Capitals. The Delhi team completely dominated the proceedings and registered a phenomenal win by nine wickets.

Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Delhi Capitals Women displayed a stellar performance on the field, restricting UP Warriorz to a total of 119/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Alyssa Healy started the innings for UP Warriorz but could only manage 13 runs off 15 balls. Vrinda Dinesh and Tahlia McGrath failed to get going, scoring 0 and 1 run respectively.

However, Shweta Sehrawat provided a much-needed boost to the innings with a gritty knock of 45 runs off 42 deliveries, including 5 fours and 1 six. Grace Harris also contributed with 17 runs, while Kiran Prabhu Navgire and Poonam Khemnar chipped in with 10 runs each. Despite their efforts, UP Warriorz struggled to build substantial partnerships as wickets fell at regular intervals.

The bowlers from Delhi Capitals Women also played a crucial role in their team’s triumph, with Marizanne Kapp leading the attack by claiming 3 wickets for just 5 runs in her 4 overs. Radha Yadav was equally impressive, picking up 4 wickets while conceding 20 runs in her allotted 4 overs.

Meg Lanning, Shafali Verma exhibit tremendous batting

In response, Delhi Capitals Women chased down the target with ease, finishing at 123/1 in just 14.3 overs, securing a commanding victory by 9 wickets. Meg Lanning led the charge with a composed innings of 51 runs off 43 balls, supported brilliantly by Shafali Verma who smashed 64 runs off 43 deliveries, including 6 fours and 4 sixes.
