Star Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal stole the limelight on Day 3 of the third IND vs ENG Test match. Jaiswal smashed his 2nd 100-plus score of the series and played an innings of 104 runs from 133 balls. However, Jaiswal’s dream run was hampered due to his back spasm as had to walk back to dressing after getting retired hurt. Jaiswal had already played an innings of 209 runs in the previous match.
Yashasvi Jaiswal got out cheaply in the first innings and was dismissed for a score of 10 runs. Jaiswal has already scored 751 runs from seven Tests at a brilliant average of 62.58.

Yashasvi Jaiswal has been a blessing for the Indian cricket team since he made his debut for the Indian team. Jaiswal smacked a ton on his Test debut against West Indies and plays with no fear while facing the bowlers. He takes on the opposition team with the first ball and puts them under pressure. He also gives the Indian team a left-hand option at the top of the batting lineup and also makes it easy for his partner and Indian captain Rohit Sharma to play freely.
Yashasvi Jaiswal had a blast Indian Premier League 2023 for the Rajasthan Royals. Jaiswal scored 625 runs from 14 IPL 2023 games and smashed 5 half-centuries and 1 hundred at an average of 48.08. His strike rate throughout the season was 163.61.
Getting back to the IND vs ENG third Test match, the Day 3 of the match belonged to India. The hosts wrapped up England early on Day 3 for 319 runs in their first innings. India were able to remove overnight batsman Joe Root and wicketkeeper batter Jonny Bairstow in the space of 18 runs. Bairstow was removed for a duck by Kuldeep Yadav whereas, Jasprit Bumrah got rid of Root. Ben Stokes played a cameo innings of 41 runs from 89 balls, however, no other England batsman was able to stay at the crease for long and were dismissed cheaply.
The Indian team started off well while coming out to bat in the second innings wherein openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal added up 30 runs for the first wicket. While Rohit wasn’t able to repeat his first innings magic and got dismissed by Joe Root for 18 runs. However, Jaiswal added 155 runs along with Shubman Gill and put India in a strong situation on Day 3. While Jaiswal was retired hurt, Gill remained unbeaten on 65 runs at the end of the day.
India now would be aiming to hand over England a strong target and also win the match to gain a lead in the five-match Test series.
