Pathum Nissanka returns
Star young opener Pathum Nissanka has made a significant comeback to the Sri Lanka outfit. His return marks a notable moment for Sri Lanka Cricket, as Nissanka was sidelined from the recently-concluded T20I series against Bangladesh due to a hamstring injury sustained during the home series against Afghanistan. Avishka Fernando, who replaced Nissanka in the T20I squad, has managed to retain his place for the ODIs.

Wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Mendis will continue to lead the Islanders in the 50-overs format. Mendis will receive support from Charith Asalanka, who will serve as the vice-captain for the series. Asalanka recently showcased his leadership skills by leading Sri Lanka in the first two T20Is, stepping in for regular T20 skipper Wanindu Hasaranga, who was serving a suspension.
