Sarfaraz Khan escapes career-ending injury thanks to Rohit Sharma

A crucial advice from the India National Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma that he gave in the fourth Test match helped the young batsman Sarfaraz Khan escape a potential career-ending injury in the fifth and final Test of the series against the England National Cricket Team.

Mumbai batsman Sarfaraz Khan got his India Test call-up after grinding hard in domestic cricket for years. He kept performing sensationally in the Ranji Trophy for an extended period of time before finally getting a chance to represent India at the international level.

The brilliant career stats of the youngster combined with the absence as well as the drop in the form of key batters meant that Sarfaraz Khan walked into the Indian playing XI in the Rajkot Test against the England National Cricket Team.

The right-handed batsman made an instant impact with his performances in the debut match and smashed fifty-plus scores in both innings. In the first innings, he looked set for a century on debut but he got run out in an unfortunate fashion at the score of 62. In the next innings, he once again looked comfortable out in the middle and scored an unbeaten 68 runs.

Featuring in his second-ever Test match, Sarfaraz Khan was given a warning from his skipper Rohit Sharma while fielding on Sunday.

The youngster attempted a risky stunt of fielding at the silly point without a helmet on Day 3 in the final session. Looking at this move by the youngster, Indian captain Rohit Sharma said ‘aye bhai, hero nahi banne ka,’ and told him to call for a helmet from the dugout. On-field umpire Kumar Dharmasena also stepped in saying, ‘No, you cannot do that,’ informing that a helmet is mandatory for close-in fielders. Watch the clip here:
