Punjab Kings takes on the Lucknow Super Giants in match 11 of IPL 2024 in Lucknow. This is their third game of the season. They won their season opener against Delhi Capitals while losing their next against RCB.
The Kings have played three games against the Super Giants winning one and losing two games. They won and lost one game against LSG last season. Interestingly, the win came at the Ekana stadium in Lucknow.
Punjab’s overdependence on Shikhar Dhawan was visible very early on in the campaign. Shikhar scored 45 and was anchoring the chase. He top-scored for the Kings with 45 as none of the other batters could not cross even 30. Cameos from Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran and proved too little in the end.

Heading into the next game, PBKS can make a few tactical changes. They can bring in Sinakdar Raza in place of Sam Curran and bolster their spin attack as conditions at the venue are expected to be spin-friendly.
The Indian batters apart from Dhawan need to take some more responsibility if Punjab is to be successful this season. There are concerns with Jonny Bairstow’s form as well.
Punjab Kings Playing 11 vs LSG- IPL 2024, Match 11
Shikhar Dhawan (C)
Dhawan will open the batting for the Kings. So far in the first two games he scored 67 out of which 45 came against RCB. He is closing in on 7000 IPL runs and close to 1000 IPL runs for Punjab Kings.
Jonny Bairstow
Bairstow will open the batting with Dhawan. He scored 9 and 8 in the first two games for the Kings. The England keeper-batsman has been in poor form since the Test series against India.
Sikandar Raza/ Sam Curran
Based on conditions in Lucknow, PBKS can replace Sam Curran with Sikandar Raza and ask him to bat in the top order. Raza scored a match-winning 67 against LSG in the match the Kings won last year.
Liam Livingstone
Livingstone can slot in at four. He is perfectly capable of batting at that number and can be seen as the finisher for the side along with Jitesh Sharma.
Jitesh Sharma (WK)
Sharma scored 20 off 27 balls in the chase against RCB in the previous game. He has a strike rate of close to 200 in his first 10 balls but has struggled in his first two knocks of the season.
Shashank Singh
Shashank scored a blazing cameo of 21 off 8 balls that took the Kings past 170 against RCB. There was some confusion regarding his auction as per reports but he showed his ability in the previous game.
Harpreet Brar
Brar is perfectly capable of batting at seven for the Kings. He is also one of their two specialist spinners. He bowled a brilliant spell of 2/13 off his four overs against RCB.
Harshal Patel
Harshal will slot in at eight. He was expensive in the first two games against DC and RCB. The Kings roped him for almost 11 crores in the auction. So far he has picked up three wickets in two games.
Kagiso Rabada
Rabada will be the fourth overseas player in this XI. He has also picked up three wickets in his first two games for the Kings. Overall, he has 109 wickets in 71 IPL games.
Arshdeep Singh
Arshdeep will be the third Indian seamer in the lineup. He has picked up two wickets from the first two games and was expensive against RCB giving away 40 in less than four overs.
Rahul Chahar
Chahar concludes the likely Punjab Kings XI against Lucknow Super Giants. He picked up just 8 wickets last year for the Kings and just one of the first two games so far.
Impact Sub- Prabhsimran Singh
Punjab have used Prabhsimran Singh as the Impact Sub in the first two games and is likely to use him in that role against LSG as well as they have their bowling options well sorted for this game. He is closing in on 500 IPL runs for the Kings.
