Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is all set to restore the contract of premier pacer Haris Rauf. As per the reports in PTI, it is learned that legal experts of the governing body did an evaluation and the fast bowler might be getting the national contract back.
The reports claimed that Haris Rauf filed an appeal through his attorney and detailed why he didn’t take part in the Australia Tests. Earlier, the fast bowler in an argument had said that he wanted to take care of his body and prioritise white-ball cricket, which is why he pulled out
A PCB official said that Haris Rauf’s appeal for the reinstatement of his central contract is under consideration by the legal team, who are examining it. He stated that they are high chance that his appeal would be accepted and he might get the contract back.
“There are chances that the appeal might be accepted, and his contract restored,” a source stated, as quoted by PTI.
Haris Rauf was axed from the PCB’s national contract after he refused to play in the three-match Test series against Australia. The fast bowler will also be not given the NOC to participate in any overseas league until June 30, 2024. But PCB wants him to be available for all international commitments.
Following that many experts have shared their verdict on the situation and have lashed out at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the way they treated Haris Rauf. The fast bowler didn’t take part in the Tests against Australia but played a few games in the Big Bash League.
Haris Rauf is currently injured as he dislocated his shoulder and is out of the ongoing Pakistan Super League. He played three games for the Lahore Qalandars before getting injured. He was part of Pakistan’s squad for the five-match T20l series in New Zealand but he didn’t play for the team in four games.
PCB not happy with Lahore Qalandar owner’s remarks on the mishandling of Haris Rauf by PCB
The reports stated that PCB is not at all happy with the owner of the Lahore Qalandars Sameen Rana for his comments on Haris Rauf. The franchise owner lashed out at the governing body for the way they treated the premier pacer, stating that they humiliated the fast bowler publicly.
The Lahore Qalandars owner stated that termination from the contract has been psychologically hurting Haris Rauf. Before adding that he would never treat his employees like that. Speaking to ESPNCricinfo, he explained:
“The timing of that announcement was wholly unnecessary. There was no Pakistan series coming up, or any emergency situation that necessitated the announcement two days before the PSL. Whatever the logic was, the timing was really bad. It was a huge blow psychologically for him because his whole life’s main aim is playing for Pakistan.
“Rauf’s our premier bowler, our highest wicket-taker after Shaheen Afridi. To publicly humiliate him and issue a press release announcing the termination of his central contract, I have never seen this happen anywhere.I would never treat my employees like that,” he concluded.
