Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Mustafizur Rahman made Mumbai Indians fans go numb at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The 29th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is underway and is keeping everyone excited with the kind of competition that has been there.
In the chase of 207 runs, Mumbai Indians started off the the innings pretty well. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan (23) gave a vital start to the team but Chennai Super Kings produced a magnificent effort with the ball and were back in the game at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Matheesha Pathirana tilted the game in favor of Chennai Super Kings as he first removed Ishan Kishan and then sent Suryakumar Yadav packing. However, the credit for the right-hander’s wicket went to Mustafizur Rahman, who took a jaffa at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
During the 3rd ball of the 8th over, Matheesha Pathirana bowled a short-of-length delivery outside off. Suryakumar Yadav tried to play an uppercut but hit it flat towards the third-man fielder, where fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was stationed.
Mustafizur Rahman moved a bit to his left and reversed cup the catch with a bit of a backtrack. He realized that he was about to lose his balance threw the ball up and went over the ropes. He then balanced back to complete the catch. Here’s the video:

However, his efforts went in vain as Mumbai Indians failed to chase the target. They ended with 186 runs and lost the game by 20 runs. Matheesha Pathirana took 4 wickets and was the pick of the bowlers whereas Tushar Deshpande and Mustafizur Rahman picked one scalp each.
Pretty happy with the win – Shardul Thakur after the win over MI
Chennai Super Kings pacer, who bowled sensationally well in the death, talked about the game, saying that they held their nerves and revealed about their plans to trouble the opposition in the last few overs of the chase. He also credited Rohit Sharma for his stellar innings.
“Pretty happy with the win. Never easy against MI at Wankhede. MIvCSK always known for a quality game. Rohit innings, Rutu and Shivam batted well too.. We held our nerve and won the game. We spoke about keeping fielders wherever we are trying to bowl. Keep it simple and bowl to the field rather than trying to outsmart the batter. This was a used pitch.
“I think whenever it’s a used pitch here slower ones work better than the first game. Apart from Pathirana, we felt others should take pace off. Amazing to see his yorkers. Difficult to defend at Wankhede. We felt the game was sliding a little when Rohit was going well. I felt let’s be brave here and make him hit to the bigger side. If he gets a boundary full marks to him and if he misses we could turn the game,” he concluded.
