Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah is all set to play in the third Test against England in Rajkot. As per the reports in Indian Express, it is learned that the fast bowler has been given the clearance by the medical team and there seems to be no issue with the pacer playing the third consecutive game.
There have been several reports in the last few weeks that suggested that team management might rest Jasprit Bumrah to manage his workload. The pacer has bowled around 58 overs in the two Tests and is single-handedly carrying the fast bowling department of the Indian team.
However, with a gap of around 10 days between the second and third Test, Jasprit Bumrah seemed to have got more recovery time and unless the fast bowler asks for a rest himself, he is certain to play the match. The Indian vice-captain is the leading wicket-taker for India will 15 wickets to his name.
The reports claimed that Jasprit Bumrah is keen to take part in all the five games of the series. But he has been informed by the team management and the selectors to take a rest in the Ranchi, which will be the 4th game, considering his injury issues that kept him out of action for long.
Since there is an 8-day gap between the fourth and fifth Tests, Jasprit Bumrah then will be available for the last game in Dharamshala. The reports added that Mohammed Siraj is all set to return to the XI in the Rajkot Test and if he fails to deliver in the game then the team might be tempted to play extra spinner.
Jasprit Bumrah was one of the major reasons why India staged a comeback in the Test series after losing the first game. The pacer oozed his class on the batting-friendly Vizag surface and helped his team get in a dominating position in both innings.
He picked six wickets in the first innings and then followed it up with e wickets in the second innings. After his heroics in the game, Jasprit Bumrah became the new No.1 ranked Test bowler in the ICC rankings. He would be hoping to replicate the same performance in the next game as well.
Jasprit Bumrah continues to shine but KS Bharat given final chance after poor performances – Reports
Apart from the reports related to Jasprit Bumrah, it is also learned that KS Bharat will be given one final chance to prove his worth with the bat in Rajkot. The keeper-batter has failed to get going in all four innings in two games and hasn’t looked settled at the crease at all.
The reports claimed that if KS Bharat fails to make an impact with the bat in the Rajkot Test, then India will be looking at Dhruv Jurel for the last two matches. The keeper-batter was added to the team as a second keeper in the team after team management made it clear that KL Rahul wouldn’t keep wickets.
KS Bharat was dropped from the Indian side earlier on as well. He wasn’t part of the team in the South Africa series. However, with Ishan Kishan pulling out of the England series and KL Rahul not ready to keep wickers, Bharat got a call-up again.
