Has RCB ever won IPL?

Kevin Pietersen has brutally trolled Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for their failure to win the Indian Premier League (IPL) title. RCB are one of the only three teams who have played in the tournament from the very first edition but are yet to win the competition.

They have qualified for the final thrice so far but are yet to end up on the winning side. In 2009, they qualified for the final for the first time and lost the game against the now-defunct Deccan Chargers. In 2011, they were in the final once again but lost to Chennai Super Kings.

Five years later, they qualified for the final for the third time when their former captain Virat Kohli scored a staggering 973 runs with the help of a record four centuries. However, RCB once again ended up on the losing side as Sunrisers Hyderabad won the game to clinch their maiden title. The Bengaluru-based outfit are yet to qualify for the final since then.

From 2017 to 2019, they failed to qualify for the playoffs for three seasons in a row. They made it to the playoffs in 2022 but could not get past the league stage last year.

Kevin Pietersen trolls RCB:

RCB will be desperate to clinch their maiden IPL title this year. However, they have not started the season on a good note. They suffered a crushing 6-wicket loss against reigning champions Chennai Super Kings in the tournament opener last week.

While only time will reveal RCB’s fate in IPL 2024, Kevin Pietersen could not stop himself from taking a hilarious dig at the franchise. The former England captain came up with the comment in the commentary box during the game between RCB and Punjab Kings on Monday (March 25).

It all began when commentator Harsha Bhogle highlighted RCB’s huge fan following on social media. The veteran commentator pointed out that RCB hardly loses an online poll, saying: “Doesn’t matter whatever the poll is, RCB never loses a poll.”

In reply, Kevin Pietersen hilariously said: “RCB never lose a poll. Has RCB ever won a IPL? – The poll will say Yes 100%”
