Brad Hogg, the former Australia National Cricket Team spin bowler, has lavished rich praise on the India National Cricket Team left-handed opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal, but he has also issued a warning to the young cricketer.
Yashasvi Jaiswal is one of the most exciting young talents going around in world cricket and he has consistently delivered the match-winning for India in international cricket.
Jaiswal got his India call-up after supreme performances in domestic cricket and the Indian Premier League (IPL) and he has carried his form in the international arena. The left-handed batter has made himself a permanent member of the Test and T20I teams, but he is yet to make his debut in ODI cricket.
Currently, Jaiswal is involved in the five-match home Test series against England National Cricket Team. He has looked in terrific touch in the series and has already slammed two double centuries. The 22-year-old has smashed 545 runs in 6 innings at an astonishing average of 109.00 and is the leading run-getter in the series.
Jaiswal has created and broken several new records with his performances in the series and he will be looking forward to once again playing crucial innings in the fourth Test match, which is set to be played from February 23 at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi.
He hasn’t played much pace this series and that’s where his next Test will be – Brad Hogg on Yashasvi Jaiswal
In a video shared on his official YouTube channel, Brad Hogg stated that Jaiswal will be tested in overseas Tests in England, Australia, and South Africa when the ball moves around with a good pace and he needs to work on his technique. He said:
“I think he is the best young prospect going around. He hasn’t played much pace this series and that’s where his next Test will be when he comes to Australia, England and South Africa. There will be pace on the surface and you cannot afford to play outside the off-stump early on. But the way he has spoken, I believe he will work on his technique when he goes there and gives himself the best chance of success.”
Hogg was also impressed with the performance of Dhruv Jurel in his debut Test match against England. The former Aussies spinner claimed that Jurel is better overall wicketkeeper-batsman than KS Bharat and he will have a bright future.
“I am very impressed with Jurel. I feel sorry for Bharat, but Jurel offers more with the bat and with gloves. He is going to have a very bright future, also depending on whether Pant gets fully fit and plays all three formats.”
Dhruv Jurel made his Test debut in Rajkot, where Rohit Sharma & Co. humiliated the Three Lions by 434 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the series. The young wicketkeeper-batsman played a crucial role in the win as he scored 46 runs in the first innings and overall grabbed 2 catches in the match.
Brad Hogg further stated that the England National Cricket Team have not underestimated the Indian team, instead, they are playing with their natural aggressive approach to offer assistance to their bowlers to bag 20 wickets in the match. He asserted:
“I don’t think they have (underestimated India’s inexperience). They are just playing their brand of cricket and know that India’s youth has such talent and they were just trying to bat quickly to give their bowlers enough time to pick 20 wickets.”
