Outcast Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who has been with the Rajasthan Royals since the 2022 Indian Premier League edition, wants to see uncapped pacer Mayank Yadav clock in at 160 KM/H. Chahal, who will be taking on his former IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru later tonight at the Sawai Mansingh stadium, feels the New Delhi-based right-arm pacer will be able to do so at some point in the near future. In these early days of the 2024 edition, Mayank has turned out to be one of the most talked about and exciting talents on display so far.
There haven’t been many IPL debutants who have matched the intensity as well as the effectiveness of Mayank Yadav. He is a bowler that not many would believe (from the first look) will be able to regularly bowl at a speed of 145. The lanky and tall pacer has a good point of release, a stable run-up, and an action that helps him generate a decent amount of pace. But in modern-day cricket, pace cannot solely be a bowler’s weapon since batters nowadays are able to use the pace in their favor and thick bats have also made their job easy.
Therefore, picking a good line and maintaining a great length is a must for bowlers and Mayank Yadav has ticked the box in that regard as well. Australia’s pace bowling legend Brett Lee also gave his thumbs up to Mayank while analyzing his bowling during a recent chat with Jio Cinema. “I am super impressed with what I have seen so far. He has got great pace, nice action. I’m really excited to see how he progresses in next few months,” Lee said via Jio Cinema
Chahal says it’s good to see Mayank Yadav coming up and raising eyebrows
In a recent chat with press reporters, Yuzvendra Chahal, who stands as the all-time highest wicket-taker in IPL history, stated that he is proud of the way Mayank Yadav has performed up till now. Chahal highlighted the amount of time that Mayank has, given the fact that he is just 21 years old. He has plenty of scope to improve and the former RCB wrist spinner wants to see the youngster bowl at 160 in the near future. “It feels great to see someone bowl this fast for India. He is very young and I want Mayank Yadav to touch 160,” Chahal told press reporters.
Mayank Yadav to be in action tomorrow against Gujarat Titans
Meanwhile, after impressing in his first two matches against Punjab Kings and RCB where he picked up 3 wickets each at an economy rate of less than 9, Mayank Yadav will be in action tomorrow. Up against him will be a batting line-up led by Shubman Gill and he will also have the chance to bowl against Sai Sudharsan, Kane Williamson, Vijay Shankar, and Rahul Tewatia among others. The match will take place at Gujarat’s home ground Narendra Modi Stadium and if they win, LSG will have to go 2nd or 3rd in the points table.
