Delhi Capitals takes on Kolkata Knight Riders in match 16 of IPL 2024 in Vizag on April 3, Wednesday. This is the second and final game for the Capitals in Vizag. They won against Chennai Super Kings in their last match defending the total by 20 runs. They posted 191 runs batting first with David Warner and Prithvi Shaw forming a formidable opening pair.
The decision to bring in Prithvi Shaw paid dividends with him and David Warner adding a 91-run opening stand. Shaw scored 43 in his very first game for Delhi Capitals and played with an attacking approach. In the process, he silenced his doubters who questioned his return to the side.
Both he and Warner have a very good record against KKR. Shaw has the distinction of hitting six back-to-back fours against KKR as well. They have batters to follow who can capitalize on a good start by the openers.
Delhi Capitals bowlers were pinpoint and accurate against CSK. DC decided to field four pacers against CSK Anrich Nortje, Ishant Sharna, Khaheel Ahmed, and Mukesh Kumar. All of them bowled well across the different phases of the game. They also have Kuldeep Yadav in their ranks who took two four-fers in the last two games against KKR.
Delhi Capitals beat Kolkata Knight Riders thrice in the last two years. The last time KKR defeated DC was in the IPL 2021 Qualifier 2 at Sharjah Cricket Ground by three wickets.
