Pakistan’s right-arm fast bowler Shahnawaz Dahani took to X (formerly Twitter) to ask if his Multan Sultans senior teammate Iftikhar Ahmed has been invited to Anant Ambani’s pre-wedding function or not. Dahani posted a picture of the aggressive batter looking at a piece of paper in his hand with a caption that asked if he had received a last-minute invite.
Plenty of current as well as former cricketers internationally have marked their attendance at the pre-wedding gala organized by India’s richest businessman. Mukesh Ambani has not left any stone unturned in his son’s pre-wedding functions with expenses crossing over 500 crores.
In that budget, Ambani might as well buy the entire Pakistan Super League and all of the teams in the league. So let alone the fact that he will hand a late invitation to Iftikhar Ahmed.
Kieron Pollard leaves PSL 9 mid-way to head over to Jamnagar
The likes of MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Sam Curran, Tim David, and Dwayne Bravo all attended the ceremony. Iftikhar’s opponent in PSL 9, Kieron Pollard who is featuring for the Karachi Kings (partially) left the tournament mid-way to attend the Anant Ambani pre-wedding.
Pollard reached Jamnagar 3-4 days ago and missed Karachi’s reverse league fixture against Multan Sultans on March 3rd. The former West Indies all-rounder has played 5 matches in PSL 9, scoring 196 runs but hasn’t picked any wickets.
He is an imperative part of the MI family, having won the IPL title on numerous occasions with the Ambani-backed franchise. He has also played for MI’s sister franchises in UAE’s ILT20, South Africa’s SA20, and USA’s Major League Cricket.
No Pakistani player has been invited for the ceremonious event and it’s quite confusing as to why Shahnawaz Dahani made that Tweet. “Last minute Ambani Pre-wedding invitation for Ifthikhar Bhai”, Dahani wrote on his X handle.
And even if Mukesh Ambani had to invite any Pakistan-based cricketer then why on earth would he choose Iftikhar Ahmed? Had Dahani made that tweet about Wasim Akram or Shahid Afridi, then it would have made sense but why Iftikhar Ahmed, a player who has played just 86 games for his nation?

As soon as Shahnawaz Dahani made that post on X about Iftikhar Ahmed, fans jumped right into the comment section and it is very entertaining. While one fan wrote, “Ambani ki Shaadi mein Pakistani deewana”, another fan wrote in a shocking note that, “You guys are also obsessed over Ambani’s event?”
Then there was another fan who wrote, “Have some shame”, while a fan named Amina asked Dahani to focus on his performance. An Indian fan took a brutal dig by saying, “For washing the utensils”. Meanwhile, Iftikhar Ahmed’s Multan Sultans captained by Mohammad Rizwan increased their lead on top of the PSL 9 standings with a win against Karachi Kings yesterday.
