Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has revealed their 17-member squad for the impending T20I series against Bangladesh. This announcement comes ahead of Sri Lanka’s tour to Bangladesh for a multi-format series, comprising three T20Is followed by three ODIs and two Tests.
Pathum Nissanka’s absence due to injury
Pathum Nissanka, a key player for Sri Lanka, will be absent from the upcoming T20I series due to a hamstring injury sustained during the home series against Afghanistan. Initially anticipated to recover in time for the tour, Nissanka’s injury has led to his replacement in the squad by Avishka Fernando.
Leadership change for the first two games
Regular skipper Wanindu Hasaranga will lead Sri Lanka in the series, but will notably miss the first two games due to a suspension. Hasaranga faced disciplinary action after openly criticizing umpiring decisions in the final T20I against Afghanistan. As a result, Charith Asalanka has been appointed as the acting captain for these initial matches.
