Babar Azam did not have an auspicious 2023 as the captain of the Pakistan national cricket team. Under his leadership, Pakistan finished last in the Super 4 tables of the Asia Cup 2023 and then had an early exit in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 where they suffered four consecutive losses for the first time in the history of the ODI World Cup which included a heartbreaking loss against Afghanistan.
Babar Azam has made a better start to 2024 as he was the highest run-getter for Pakistan in the recently concluded five-match T20I series against New Zealand where he smashed three consecutive half-centuries.
However, Pakistan ended up losing all three games and lost the series 1-4 to New Zealand with the only positive being Babar’s batting performance in the series as he was struggling with form for a long time.
