Twitter reactions: Harjas Singh, Mahli Beardman sizzle as Australia beat India in U19 World Cup 2024 final to clinch 4th title

The much-awaited Under 19 World Cup 2024 final took place between India and Australia at Willowmoore Park in Benoni where the Aussies registered an emphatic win by 79 runs. The Australians completely dominated the proceedings and won their overall fourth title of U19 World Cups. Previously, Australia won the U19 World Cups in 1988 under Geoff Parker, in 2002 under Cameron White and in 2010 under Mitchell Marsh.

Harjas Singh shines with the bat

Opting to bat first, Australia posted 253/7 in their allotted 50 overs. Harjas Singh was their pick of the batter with a brilliant half-century. Singh smashed 55 off 64 balls with the help of 3 fours and as many sixes. Apart from Singh, captain Hugh Weibgen (48), Oliver Peake (46) and opener Harry Dixon (42) chipped in with valuable contributions.

For India, Raj Limbani was their star with the ball, bagging a sensational three-wicket haul for 38 runs in his quota of 10 overs. Naman Tiwari also bagged two scalps for 63 in nine overs.

Mahli Beardman blows away India’s batting

In response, the Boys in Blue were bundled out for just 174 in 43.5 overs, losing the contest by 79 runs. Opener Adarsh Singh with 47 and tailender Murugan Abhishek with 42 played their part but the rest of the batters failed to impress against a top-quality bowling attack.

Mahli Beardman was the standout bowler for the Aussies, taking a brilliant three-wicket haul while conceding only 15 runs in 7 overs, including a couple of maidens. Apart from Beardman, Raf MacMilllan also sizzled with the ball. He took three scalps for 43 runs in his quota of 10 overs.
